The story of The Little Mermaid originated in Denmark, but the Disney movie included marine life that would not survive off the Danish coast. So, I will meet Disney halfway and place her in the Virgin Islands, formerly known as the Danish West Indies, which was colonized by Denmark.
Aurora
There was some debate about where Princess Aurora should be located. The story originated in France, but I am inclined to believe that it was set in Germany. If you have a better argument, now is the time to make it known.
Cinderella
There are a lot of Cinderella stories from many places — Egypt, Japan, China, and Italy, to name a few. The French author Charles Perrault wrote about a girl called Cinderella in 1697. I am inclined to believe that the Disney movie was set in France.
